History of Group :
It was in the year of 1916, in Sarzedo, Covilhã district, Portugal, when
Francisco Feio Ribeiro, the founder of Ribeiro Group, was born. In 1929, he
migrates with his parents to Brazil, in a time when the world was going
through a very difficult economy crisis.
As soon as they arrived in Brazil, Francisco, at only 13 years of age, is
employed as a rural worker at Coqueirão farm, in Pirajuí, near Bauru, in the
State of São Paulo. Working with his older brothers, Francisco won't spare
efforts to accomplish his arduous work. While the adults cultivate and
harvest the coffee, main economical activity at the time, Francisco
struggled in his hard task of canalising and draining the water accumulated
at the property soil. Young Francisco and the brother Manoel started then to
realise they had the necessary gift to evolve. The will.
Not even sparing holydays and many sundays, a period when other workers used
to rest, the brothers kept working non-stop. They saved three "Contos de
Réis" (the money at the time) and installed a small business - a store of
goods, in Cincinato Braga, Pirajuí district, and with heavy work and
struggle, they never stopped growing. By the middle of the fourties, they
decided to launch themselves into a bolder enterprise.
They were then atracted by lands offered in the region of Lucélia, São
Paulo, although they passed the deal. WHile deciding, they kept working
seriously with their business. in 1945, Franciso Marries Dolores Caparroz,
and from this union was born Francisco Filho, Maria de Fátima, Edson and
Carlos Alberto. In that time, the fame of the north of Paraná State settling
was spreading all across the country.
The two brothers then went into a closer verification, and face a region of
vast inhabited lands, a place willing to grow into the untouched forest, of
purple dirt and very fertile soil. In few days, Francisco and Manoel move
with all the family to this small place called Maringá.
Soon at the arrival, they went to the Melhoramentos Company's office, the
settling company, buy a rural field in Capelinha, currently known as "Nova
Esperança" and ordered four urban lots, where soon they installed the "Casa
Ribeiro" (Brasil ave. x Herval ave.) serving the needs of people arriving at
every moment. They were adventurers and investors coming in large scale.
Casa Ribeiro was a complete store. There they sold from food, clothing,
shoes, hardware, construction materials, to anything that could be consumed.
Cincinato Braga e Pirajuí became, to the brothers, good memories of the
past.
1947. Distinct citizens, european style, Francisco and Manoel became very
admired businessmen in the now City of Maringá. They had their own way in
the treat of people, captivating a crowd of friends and a wide client agenda
for Casa Ribeiro. Dressing meticulously, as it was usual to see them wearing
ties and suits. Inspired by their father, adopted continuous relentless work
as obrigatory norm of life, not even sparing the sundays and holidays.
The fast progress of Casa Ribeiro, in a yet not entirely explored place, was
based in a particular characteristic of it's founders: The rigorous payment
of suppliers, known honesty and smoothness in the quality of their
merchandise. The obtained profits were invested in this very town, buying
urban terrains, believing in the prosperity of Marigá.
In this time, the sons of Francisco and Manoel were already working with
their parents. Profits were raising. They then start to apply money also in
farms of coffee, becoming great coffee growers. Men of vision, they figure
out that selling tires would be a profitable business in a region under
colonization, therefore with bad roads, that consumed quickly the vehicle
tires.
So they started to dealing tires in the city. That was the first seed of
Pneumar.
in 1965, after 36 years together, Francisco and Manoel separated business.
Dividing the patrimony of both brothers' work, the tire business was left to
Francisco.
In 1972 Pneumar is founded, company specialized in tires, today structured
with stores spread all over the state of Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas
Gerais, being one of the largest tires distribution company in Brazil.
Years passed, and certified by the tradition and quality of the
administration in every enterprise, they receive the invitation from Volvo
do Brasil, just installed in the country, to represent them in the region,
commercializing their trucks and buses. Is is created then, in 1981, Rivesa,
later expanded to Londrina, a neighbour and prosperous city. Facing the
exemplar integration of the Group with Swedish trademark, Volvo expands
their participation to all the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, creating then,
in 1983, in the capital of the State, Rivemat. And in 1991, inaugurates the
first branch office in Dourados.
Also in 1991 was created a company to manage farms and real estates of the
group, Ribemar. To date, there are still farm business and properties in the
city of Maringá, proving that the Group, even after a long time, honor their
rural roots.
In 1992, Francisco Feio Ribeiro receives the title of "Benemerit citizen of
Maringá", as a homage to his condition of distinct member of the city's
community, with his conduct, firm posture of work and coerent attitudes of a
great businessman.
Amongst many homages made to his person, one is to proud those who met him.
The name of the Exposition Center of Maringá, which after May of 1996, had
his name: Parque Internacional de Exposições Francisco Feio Ribeiro.
He passed out in August 26, 1996, leaving a great lesson: A man has to
fight. It is in constructive action, and battle for life, the man finds
satisfaction for his necessities and great hopes. Ribeiro prooves that when
a man dedicates to a great enterprise all his energies, he finds a true
reality of his mission in life. That the persistent effort, the constructive
action, the urge of superation offer noble lessons. That there is no luck or
coincidence. That the fate of a man is in his hands. And will only succeed
those who believe in his own triumph.
Today the Group follows the paths from Francisco, with his sons and
grandchildren, who will never forget what Mr. Ribeiro always said: "You got
to believe."
